The timely hit eluded Heritage Christian Academy Monday in a 3-2 road loss at Evansville Christian.
The Warriors stranded seven runners in scoring position and had two others thrown out trying to steal.
Heritage scored single runs in the third and fourth innings. Trenton Hayes drew a bases-loaded walk in the third to cut the Evansville Christian lead to 2-1. Grant Floyd singled home David Jent in the fourth inning to knot the game at 2-2.
Evansville Christian scored what proved to be the winning run in the fifth on a double, wild pitch, and misplayed ball to the outfield.
The Warriors were limited to three hits, with Hayes’ double the lone extra-base hit.
On the mound, Hayes and J.J. Thompson combined to strike out 10 batters but issued eight walks.
HCA will play two games in Owensboro on Friday.
