Peca Pitches Wildcats to Second Straight Win

Isaac Peca was brilliant on the mound for Trigg County and helped the Wildcats beat Madisonville 8-1 Tuesday at Elmer Kelley Stadium. It’s the first time in eight years Trigg has beaten Madisonville twice in a season since 2013.

The Wildcat junior right-hander pitched a complete-game five-hitter. He struck out six and walked only one. He took a shutout into the seventh inning before allowing an unearned run.  Parker Mathis singled home Michael Brantley who had reached on an error.

Peca also sparked a three-run fifth inning with an RBI double that scored his brother Joe from second.  Hunter Reynolds followed with a two-run single to drive the lead to 4-0.

Trigg added three more runs in the sixth inning when Joe Peca plated Andrew Williamson on a single to right field.  Tyler Ahart scored on a passed ball and Isaac drove in his second run of the game on a groundout.

Ahart and Williamson also had RBI singles for the Wildcats.

Reynolds and Joe Peca each had a pair of hits for Trigg County.

Landon Cline gave up four earned runs in five innings for the Maroons and struck out eight batters.

The Wildcats have won two straight games for the second time this season and stand at 7-9. They will look for their first three-game winning streak of the season Thursday when they host Union County.

Madisonville fell to 9-7 and will play at Muhlenberg County Thursday.
