Trigg County scored first, but Livingston Central scored last and in-between Friday evening. The Lady Cardinals scored the final 11 runs of the game as they picked up a big 11-1 5th District win in Smithland.
Emma West put Trigg in the early lead with an RBI double in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0, but that would essentially be the Lady Wildcats’ offense for the night.
The Lady Cardinals came back with two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead for good. Livingston was aided by a Trigg County infield error as they took the 2-1 lead.
Livingston then effectively put the game away in the bottom of the third inning. Two Trigg County errors and a big triple from Victoria Joiner led the Lady Cardinals to a six-run inning and an 8-1 lead.
Livingston would add another run in the bottom of the 4th and then close out the game with two runs in the bottom of the 6th to reach the 10-run rule.
Trigg County was hampered on the field by fielding miscues. The Lady Wildcats were charged with five errors in the game.
MaKenna Hendricks finished the game 2-3 for the Lady Wildcats. She also scored Trigg’s only run of the game. Emma West and Audrey Alexander added a double apiece.
Emma West got the start in the circle for Trigg County, giving up nine runs, however, only two of the runs were earned. She struck out three and walked two.
Madison Bolte had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Cardinals who improved to 13-5 with their fifth straight win. Joiner and Maddie Norton each drove in a pair of runs.
Sydney Lasher struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter, needing only 63 pitches to get the win for Livingston Central.
The loss drops Trigg County to 5-12 on the year. The Lady Wildcats are set to be back in action Tuesday when they host Caldwell County.
