
After being limited to just one run in a Friday night loss at Henderson County, the Christian County Lady Colonels’ bats woke up Saturday against Logan County. The Lady Colonels broke open a tie game with a seven-run fourth inning and handed the Lady Cougars a 9-3 loss.
Christian County took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks in large part to a Logan County error. Pickle Winkler led off the inning with a walk and then scored on a two-base error off a fly ball to right by Riley Hancock.
Abby Hinton gave Logan County a brief 2-1 lead when she drove in a pair of runs with a single in the top of the third.
The Lady Colonels would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning when Riley Hancock singled to drive in Avery Adcock. The wheels then came off the wagon for Logan County in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Nine of the first ten batters in the inning reached base for Christian County as they hung a seven-spot in the scoreboard. The Lady Colonels took full advantage of two walks and a Logan County error to get the offense rolling. By the time the smoke had settled, Christian County held a 9-2 lead.
Logan County would get one last run in the top of the seventh when Emerson McKinnis left the park with a long home run.
Christian County’s Riley Hancock ended up 2-4 with a pair of RBIs. Karlee Crick also was 2-4 in the game. Tenley Gilbert was 1-3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Pickle Winkler finished up 1-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Riley Hancock went the distance for Christian County in the circle, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on six hits, striking out five while walking four.
