Caldwell County and Lyon County each had 14 base hits, but the Lady Lyons pounded three home runs while knocking off the Lady Tigers 13-7 Friday in Eddyville.
The big inning for Lyon was the bottom of the fifth after Caldwell had cut a 6-1 deficit to 7-6.
Tori Schenk doubled home a run with one out, then Calista Collins slammed a three-run home run to left with two outs as Lyon extended its lead to 11-6.
Lyon (18-8) added two more runs in the sixth before Caldwell (8-11) added the game’s final run in the top of the seventh.
It was the Lady Lyons’ second win over the Lady Tigers this season.
Lyon has closed to within 27-24 in the all-time series with Caldwell.
The Lady Tigers led 1-0 after an RBI single by Harper Holeman in the top of the first inning.
But Lyon answered with four in the bottom of the frame. Sydney Melton doubled in a run to tie the game. Gracen Wynn put Lyon up 2-1 with a single to center. Lilly Perry then knocked in two more with a double.
In the home half of the second, Collins doubled home a run, then Melton later added a solo homer to center to make it 6-1.
But Caldwell got back in the game in the top of the fourth. A two-run blast to center by Majah Hollowell made it 6-3. Allie Felker had an RBI triple to make it a 6-4 game.
Hadlie Butler’s home run to center leading off the bottom of the fourth gave Lyon a 7-4 advantage.
But Caldwell cut the gap to one in the top of the fifth. A run scored when Majah Hollowell reached on an error. A sacrifice fly off the bat of A.J. Hollowell trimmed the margin to 7-6.
However, the Lady Tigers could never draw even, as Lyon’s offense continued to produce runs.
Collins finished the day 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Perry was 2-for-4 and knocked in three while Melton went 2-for-4 and drove in two.
Schenk was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Katelyn Dykes finished 3-for-4 with three singles.
For Caldwell, Felker was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs batted in. A.J. Hollowell was 2-for-3 while Shelby Lane, Presley McKinney and Holeman each went 2-for-4.
Kaelyn Conger was the winning pitcher for Lyon. She went 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits. She struck out eight and walked one.
Lyon plays twice Saturday at Christian County, facing both the host Lady Colonels and Logan County.
Caldwell hits the field again on Monday when it hosts Marshall County.
