Despite outhitting its opponent, Trigg County couldn’t push across runs when they needed to and had some costly errors in a 6-2 loss at Livingston Central Friday.
The Wildcats outhit Livingston 8-5 but left 11 runners on base, with seven of those in scoring position. Trigg also had three errors that led to three unearned runs for the Cardinals.
The Wildcats got their runs via a bases-loaded walk in the first and an RBI groundout in the sixth.
Andrew Williamson and Tyler Ahart each had two hits from the first two spots in the lineup.
While Livingston Central only had five hits, they finagled 11 walks from Wildcat pitchers. Logan Wring and Ethan Ramage each had a pair of hits for the Cardinals who won for the fourth time in 19 games.
Dakota Lamb, the only senior on the Cardinal roster, was outs shy of a complete game. He struck out 11 Wildcats and issued just three walks.
Stephen Audas gave Trigg a huge boost out of the bullpen with three innings of one-hit baseball and eight strikeouts.
The district loss will not have an impact on the district tournament seeding with Trigg already locking up the No. 3 seed. Livingston, who lost to Trigg 17-0 on April 22, will be the No. 4 seed.
Trigg County [7-11] will host Mayfield Tuesday.
