The Webster County Trojans took advantage of five Fort Campbell errors to score early and often Friday night in Dixon. The Trojans scored in each of their four at-bats to cruise to the 14-4 five-inning win.

Webster County plated two runs in the first and two more in the second to take an early 4-0 lead. The runs in the second inning were unearned as the Falcons were charged with two errors in the inning.

The Trojans then effectively put the game away with a big six-run inning in the bottom of the third inning. During the inning, eight consecutive Trojan batters reached base.

Fort Campbell looked as if they might make a run to get back in the game in the top of the fourth inning. Taking advantage of a couple of Trojan errors, the Falcons scored four runs to cut the lead to 10-4. Carter Timm came up with a big RBI single in the inning.

The rally hopes would be short-lived, however. Webster County would come up with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead back out to 14-4.

Ethan Egner was 1-2 for the Falcons with a run scored. The Falcons’ other hit in the game came from Carter Timm. Fort Campbell finished the game with four runs on two hits.

Jace Thurby was solid on the mound for the Trojans. Thurby gave up the four runs, but none of them were earned. He struck out eight and walked none.

The loss drops the Falcons to 0-14 on the year. The two teams will meet again on Saturday, this time on post at Fort Campbell at noon.
