Colonels Blast Hopkins Central, Mayfield by Combined 29-1 Score

The Christian County baseball team made short work of a pair of opponents on Saturday, with Preston Phan driving in 5 runs in a 17-1 victory over Hopkins County Central and throwing a no-hitter in a 12-0 shutout of Mayfield.

Phan was 3/4 at the plate in the opener, followed by Carter Sholar with a pair of hits and 4 RBI.  Hayden Hunt, Josh Snorton, and Houston George each had a hit and 2 RBI, with George Forrest collecting two hits and an RBI.

George earned the win on the mound with an inning of work, striking out one.  Broden Kellum took over from there, scattering 2 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over the last three frames.

Loren McKinney took the loss for the Storm, giving up 10 earned runs on 7 hits with a walk in an inning of work.

Phan dominated Mayfield in the Colonels’ second outing, with a walk providing the Cardinals’ only baserunner of the game.  He struck out 6 to pick up his first win of the season on the mound.

Elijah Underhill led the way at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBI, followed by George with a pair of hits and an RBI.  Hunt, Sholar, and Phan each drove in a run.

Next up for the 5-15 Colonels is a trip to post on Monday to face Fort Campbell.  The Storm will also face district opposition on Monday with a scheduled road matchup with Caldwell County.
