
Lyon County 8th-Grader Eli Baker pitched five strong innings in his first start and Jackson Shoulders blasted his team-high 8th home run to send the Lyons to a 13-0 win over Livingston County Monday night.
The Lyons get back to winning ways after a loss to Owensboro Catholic last time out, improving to 19-5 overall.
Lyon County turned 5 first-inning walks, an error, and an RBI single by Baker into a 6-0 advantage. Leading 7-0 in the 3rd, Brady Darnall doubled in a run and the Lyons added another on a bases-loaded walk in the 4th.
After an RBI single by Brody Williams made it 10-0 in the top of the 5th, Shoulders cleared the right-field fence for a 3-run shot to cap the win.
Baker scattered 4 hits with a walk and 5 strikeouts and tied Shoulders with 3 RBI. Aidan Rush drove in 2 and had a hit, with Gunnar Bingham, Williams, Baker, Darnall, and Austin Long each hitting safely once.
Daniel Ramage took the loss for the Cardinals, lasting three and a third and allowing 9 runs, 6 earned, on 6 hits with 8 walks and a pair of strikeouts. Drew Barrow pitched one and two thirds, surrendering 4 runs, 3 earned, on 2 hits with 5 walks.
Lyon welcomes Calloway County, winners of four-straight, to Eddyville on Tuesday. Livingston will be back on its home field on Tuesday when UHA visits.
