
The Caldwell County Lady Tiger softball team welcomed No. 18-ranked Marshall County to Princeton, but the Lady Marshals rolled up a 12-1 victory in six innings on Monday.
Marshall, now 19-10, scored runs in every inning except the second.
Caldwell’s lone run came in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run to centerfield by Allie Felker.
A.J. Hollowell and Brylee Butts each went 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers.
Marshall County’s Kinley Edwards went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five runs batted in. Sarenna Tomassi was 3-for-4 and scored three times while driving in a run.
Winning pitcher Gracelynn Darnall and Tia Thorpe combined to hold Caldwell to seven base hits while striking out three and not issuing a free pass.
Caldwell’s girls are now 8-12.
The Lady Tigers will hit the road Tuesday for a date at Trigg County. The Lady Wildcats are 5-12 this season and have lost five of their last six games.
The Lady Tigers hold a big 31-5 advantage in the all-time series with their former 5th District rival.
