Lyon County topped visiting Calloway County 12-1 Tuesday night behind six strong innings on the mound from Corey Cissell to go with two or more hits for four different Lyons and 3 RBI each from Jackson Shoulders and Eli Baker.

The surging Lyons have won seven of eight and pick up their 20th victory of the season.  They’ll be on the road on Thursday for a matchup with Madisonville-North Hopkins.

Cissell surrendered the Lakers’ only run of the game in the top of the 1st, but Shoulders evened things in the bottom of the 2nd with a bomb over the right-field fence.  Brady Darnall brought in a run with a sacrifice fly and Gunnar Bingham followed with an RBI single for a 3-1 lead.

Baker and Darnall had RBI singles in the 3rd before Aidan Rush, Baker, and Christian O’Daniel drove in runs in the 4th for a 10-1 advantage.

With one on in the bottom of the 6th, Shoulders parked an offering by Calloway’s Jackson Chapman over the left-field fence to send everyone home.

Cissell scattered 3 hits over six innings, allowing a single unearned run with no walks and 6 strikeouts to pick up the win.

Calloway starter Colby White took the loss, lasting three and a third and surrendering 7 runs, 5 earned, on 8 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Shoulders had 3 hits, Bingham, Rush, and Baker each hit safely twice, and Darnall drove in two.
