Todd Central’s Jacob Brandon threw his second five-inning no-hitter of the season to help the Rebels to a 17-0 victory over visiting Caverna on Thursday.
It was Senior Night in Elkton, in addition to a ceremony to honor coach Greg Shelton’s 1,000th career win, and the Rebels celebrated in style on the way to their 18th victory of the season.
The Rebels started the season with a 15-0 result over Caverna and it was clear early on that Thursday night’s matchup would be similar. A 7-run second inning blew the game open, with Will Kearns and Jameson Hunt each singling to bring in runs.
Ethan Bicksler scored on a wild pitch for a 10-0 lead in the third and the Rebels followed with another 7-run frame in the bottom of the fourth. Senior Brisen Wilson singled in a run, Hunt drove in his second with a single, and Jase Hamptom’s second hit of the game pushed the final run across.
A second-inning walk was the only Caverna baserunner Brandon allowed and he struck out 11 to pick up his fifth win of the season.
The Rebels only needed eight hits, with Ethan Bicksler joining Hampton with two. Hampton’s four RBI doubled his season total.
Landon Slagle took the loss for Caverna, allowing 17 runs, ten earned, with nine walks and three strikeouts.
On Friday, the Rebels travel to Cadiz to face the Trigg County Wildcats.
