On Thursday, the Tigers scored eight times in the fourth inning and shut out the Cardinals 14-0 in five innings at the VFW Ballpark. Ben Goodaker pitched a three-hitter for Caldwell County.

It is Caldwell’s 14th straight win over Livingston Central. The Cardinals last beat the Tigers in the 2010 season.

Goodaker took a no-hitter to the fifth inning before surrendering three singles with one out. However, he worked out of the jam to finish off the shutout.

Meanwhile, Caldwell rapped out 13 base hits in the contest. Carter Whittington went 3-for-3 at the plate while Brady Holeman was 2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored. Collin Whittington and Deontaye Walls were each 2-for-3 while Tate VanHooser slammed a two-run home run during the big inning.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Brady Holeman scored from third and Jamus Carneyhan came all the way around from second on a groundout by Gabe Dyer.

Caldwell tacked on four runs in the third to make it 6-0. The first run of the frame scored on an error. Walls and Holeman each doubled home a run while Hunter Newsom had an RBI single.

The Tigers then put the game away with eight runs in the fourth. Thirteen batters came to the plate in the inning. Besides VanHooser’s homer, Collin Whittington singled home two runs.

Caldwell evened its season mark at 11-11 with just one game on the schedule next week for the final week of the regular season.

The Tigers will host the Hopkinsville Tigers on Monday at the VFW Ballpark.
