The Hopkinsville Tigers were a team looking to build a little momentum after losing three of their last four games. The Trigg County Wildcats were apparently willing to be obliging hosts to that cause Thursday evening. Trigg County was charged with eight errors and the Hopkinsville Tigers took advantage of the miscues and rolled to a 10-2 win at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.

Hopkinsville scored in each of its first four at-bats as the Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Logan Durst drove in a run in the first inning and the Tigers scored on a Trigg County error to make it 2-0.

The Tigers added two more runs on a Wildcat miscue in the second to push the lead out to 4-0. Hoptown plated two more in the third to extend the margin to 6-0. The big hit in the inning was an RBI triple from Ryan Myers. From there the Tigers cruised on out to pick up the win.

Trigg County did get a run in the 4th on an RBI single from Dallas Ahart, and another run in the 5th when Bryce Cunningham drove in a run on a ground out.

Ryan Myers, Landon Cook, and Landon Snyder each had two hits for Hopkinsville. Only four of the Tigers’ runs were scored as earned due to the Trigg County errors.

Tyler Ahart and Dallas Ahart led the Trigg offense with two hits each.

Zach Moss got the win for Hoptown, going six innings, giving up two runs, one of them earned, on four hits, while striking out four and walking two.

For Trigg County, Andrew Williamson got the start, going four innings, giving up seven runs, only three of them earned, on seven hits, striking out three and walking four.

Hopkinsville improves to 16-8 with the win, while Trigg County drops to 7-13 on the year.
