Lady Lyons Take Walk-Off Win Against Murray

8th grader Lilly Perry singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and then Katelyn Dykes scored on an error after the hit as the Lyon County Lady Lyons edged the Murray Lady Tigers 3-2 at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville. The game-winning hit gave the Lady Lyons their third straight win and 21st of the season.

The game was a tight battle throughout the evening. Murray took the first lead of the game in the top of the 2nd when Marlee Riddle doubled and then scored on a single from Layne Latimer to make it 1-0 Lady Tigers.

Lyon County came back to take the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Lauren Davis tripled with one out and then scored on a bunt single from Hadlie Butler to make it 1-1. Butler would then score on a double to left field by Calista Collins to put Lyon County up 2-1.

Murray came right back in the top of the fourth. The Lady Tigers converted back-to-back one-out singles and a fielder’s choice into the game-tying run to make it 2-2, setting the stage for the exciting finish.

Five different Lady Lyons had a hit in the game, those coming from Hadlie Butler, Calista Collins, Kaelyn Conger, Lilly Perry, and Lauren Davis.

In the circle, Tori Schenk pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out five, while walking none.

Lyon County moves to 21-9 on the season and will return to action Monday when they travel to Caldwell County.
