Eagles Fly Past Blazers in Five

5-22-dearmond

Graves County put together a complete game on both sides of the baseball to down University Heights Academy 11-0 in five innings Saturday at Simmons Field.

The Eagles took advantage of every break given to them by the Blazers. Of the 11 runs scored in the game, six batters reached base by way of walk, error, or hit batter.

Graves scored three times in the opening frame with Curd driving in two with a single.

A hit batter with the bases loaded in the second inning plated Graves County’s fourth run.

After a single run in the fourth inning pushed the Graves lead to 5-0, the Eagles sent 10 batters to the plate in the fifth and scored six times.  Curd added his second two-run single of the game and scored on Isaiah’s triple to deep left.  Isaiah had an RBI earlier in the game with a sacrifice fly.

Drew Hayden limited UHA to four singles. Two of them came in the fifth inning but runners were thrown out at third and at home in an attempt to keep the game going.

Graves County has won six of seven games in running its record to 18-6.

UHA dropped to 12-18 and will host Hickman County Tuesday.
