After seeing much of his senior season in high school wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hopkinsville’s Jamarcus Burks will have the opportunity to continue both his athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. Burks officially signed his paperwork Monday afternoon to play basketball at Carolina Christian College, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
During his final year at Hopkinsville High School, Burks averaged 11.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest for a Tiger team that finished the year at 7-5, falling in the regional semifinals in a one-point game to Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Burks had 15 points in a win over McCracken County and 13 points in a win over Muhlenberg County, both teams that reached the 2021 Sweet 16.
Burks averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds during his junior season at Hopkinsville.
Carolina Christian’s basketball program is one that is in its infancy. The Centurions just began playing in 2017.
According to their website, Carolina Christian College is a 4-year and above, private-not-for-profit special focus faith-based institution that educates persons for Christian ministries through a program of Biblical and theological studies, general education in the arts and sciences, and professional studies.
