Fort Campbell junior Andrew Haughenbury put himself in position to chase a 2nd Region tennis title on Tuesday with a pair of wins on Monday in Henderson County.

Haughenbury kicked things off with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Christian County’s Jerry Foster to set up a quarterfinal meeting with UHA’s Will Bryan.

He took the first set 6-2 but faced a battle in the second, eventually winning 7-6 (7-1).  The second seed will face Madisonville-North Hopkins’ fourth-seeded Nathaniel Crick in a semifinal on Tuesday.

Also in singles play, the Falcons’ Ryan Rivera fell in straight sets to UHA’s Ethan Alexander.

The duo of Micah Worthan and Alec Rhodes received a bye in the opening round and followed with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Union County’s Kaleb Rust and Grant Deibler.  However, Caldwell County’s top-seeded duo of Jordan and Ryan Hammett overpowered the Falcons 6-1, 6-1 to deny them a state tourney spot.

Gabe Gorsuch and Mitch Petros also advanced through the opening round with a bye before meeting the second-seeded Hopkinsville pair of James Folz and Spencer Powell.  The Falcons dropped the first set 2-6, won the second 6-2, and bowed out with a 7-10 loss in the third.
