Both of the girls’ doubles tennis teams for Lyon County picked up first-round wins Monday at the Region 2 Tennis Tournament in Henderson.
Maddie Russell and Laney Darby defeated Henderson County’s Emma Gibson and Abbey Gibson. They moved on to the quarterfinals when their second-round opponent defaulted.
Russell and Darby lost to No. 3 seed Natalie Richey and Chloe Mackey 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Emmy Slaton and Katie Ladd won their first-round match 6-4, 6-0 over Fort Campbell’s Isabella Aragon Espinoza and Matilda Thompson. They fell in the quarterfinals to Madisonville’s Abby Harris and Emily Pinkerton 6-1, 6-2.
Zoe Board dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to No. 3 seed Abby Moss of Hopkinsville in singles’ play, while Anna Yanez lost to Webster County’s 6-0, 6-0.
