Trigg Rolls in Doubleheader Sweep of Dawson

The Trigg County baseball team made quick work of Dawson Springs while sweeping a Senior Day doubleheader at the Trigg Recreation Complex.

The Wildcats won the first game 10-0 in five innings, then needed just three innings to take game two 18-3.

Trey Carr pitched a five-hit shutout in the opener for Trigg. He struck out four and walked just one in the contest.

Joe Peca was 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three times for the Wildcats. Bryce Cunningham was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs batted in. Kaiden McCormick finished 2-for-3 and drove in three while Tyler Ahart was 2-for-3 and had one RBI.

A four-run third was the big inning for Trigg. The Wildcats scored twice in each of the first, fourth and fifth innings.

In the second game, a 10-run third inning enabled Trigg to finish off the Panthers 18-3.

Trigg (11-14) took an 8-0 lead behind three runs in the first and five more in the second.

Dawson (5-13) scored all three of its runs in the top of the third.

Cunningham was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and two RBIs to help lead the Wildcat offense. Carr and Aaron DeSpain were also 2-for-3. Peca was 1-for-2 with a triple and four runs batted in.

Cunningham was the winning hurler for Trigg, allowing just two hits in two innings of work.

Trigg has won four straight games. The Wildcats will go to Crittenden County on Tuesday.

Dawson will next host Todd County Central on Thursday.
