
Corey Cissell scattered four base hits over seven innings as Lyon County picked up an 8-1 road win at Union County in baseball action Tuesday.
Cissell threw 83 pitches in the complete-game effort, giving up just one earned run while striking out eight and walking none.
Each team put up a run in the fourth, but Lyon took the lead for good in the fifth.
Brady Darnall singled with one out in the decisive frame. He scored on a two-out double by Brody Williams to give the Lyons a 2-1 advantage. Jackson Shoulders following with a single to score Williams and make it 3-1.
Lyon (21-7) added another run in the sixth, then put the game away with four runs in the seventh.
Christian O’Daniel had the big hit, driving in two runs with a double to help the Lyons go up 8-1.
Cissell then retired the Braves in order in the home half of the seventh to finish up the victory.
Williams was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles as Lyon recorded 11 base hits in the contest. O’Daniel was 2-for-3 while Jackson and Darnall were each 2-for-4.
Union is now 16-17.
The Lyons will play at home on Thursday when they host Murray.
