It was not the evening Tuesday he would like to have seen, but University Heights Academy’s Ethan Alexander will still be off to Lexington to represent the school at the state tennis meet.
Alexander was in Henderson Tuesday evening for the semifinal round of the boys’ singles regional tennis tournament. Alexander was matched up against top-seeded Josh Plain, of Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The match was a competitive struggle, with Alexander forcing Plain to work to earn his points. However, Plain would ultimately take the opening set 6-3. The second set played out much like the first, as the pair battled back and forth through some long, and intensely contested points, but again Plain would go on to take the set 6-2, and to take the match 6-3, 6-2.
Plain would then go on to win the title, defeating Andrew Haughenberry, of Fort Campbell, in the championship match.
Alexander will now spend the next few days preparing for the boys’ state tennis tournament which gets underway June 1st in Lexington.
