Lady Storm Turns Back Hopkinsville 14-4

Hopkinsville held a 7-5 advantage in base hits but still found itself on the wrong end of a 14-4 decision in softball action Thursday at Hopkins County Central.

The Lady Storm scored in every inning, including five-run frames in both the second and fourth in the five-inning contest.

Hopkins Central (9-18) took advantage of eight free passes and four Hoptown errors.

Aly McCord went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored four times for the home team.

Kaitlyn Kaetzel and Jakayla Grubbs each went 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers (5-11). Shaniya Straight had an inside-the-park home run in the top of the fourth.

Hailie Hollis was the winning pitcher for Hopkins Central, tossing all five innings while surrendering two earned runs. She struck out four without giving up a walk.

Hoptown scored three runs in the top of the first inning and led 3-2 after one before the Lady Storm took the lead for good in the second inning.
