
A.J. Hollowell had a two-run homer as the Caldwell County Lady Tigers dispatched the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm 12-2 in five innings in the 7th District tournament semifinals in Princeton on Monday.
Caldwell’s girls will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins for the district championship Tuesday at the Ratliff Park Complex in a contest that is now set for 5:00. The Lady Maroons routed Dawson Springs 17-0 in four innings.
Caldwell never trailed against Hopkins Central, using a five-run second inning to go up 6-0 and then putting the game away with three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Illysa Stallins was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on five base hits in the five-inning contest.
Hollowell homered to center as part of a three-run fourth inning for Caldwell. She finished 2-for-4 and scored four times.
Brylee Butts went 3-for-4 and drove home three runs for the Lady Tigers. Rylee Thompson was 2-for-3.
For Hopkins Central, Young homered leading off the fourth inning as the Lady Storm put up single tallies in the third and fourth innings.
The Lady Tigers are now 14-13 on the season while Hopkins Central ends the year 9-19.
Caldwell will take on a Lady Maroon team that is 12-14 in the district final.
Caldwell and Madisonville split a pair of meetings during the regular season.
Madisonville leads the all-time series 39-18.
