Landon Cline Pitches Maroons Into 7th District Final

Landon Cline struck out 10 as part of a one-hit pitching performance, and the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons eliminated Hopkins County Central 10-0 in five innings at the 7th District baseball tournament.

A seven-run fourth inning was the big offensive frame for the Maroons in the semifinal tilt at Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville.

Madisonville (11-14) advances to Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. district championship game and also earns a spot in the 2nd Region tournament, which begins Saturday at University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville.

Hunter Gossett tripled home three runs during the big frame for the Maroons. He finished the day 2-for-4 with four runs batted in as part of Madisonville’s 10-hit attack.

Luke Barton and Jonathon Cain each went 2-for-2 for the Maroons. Cain also tripled and had an RBI.

Sage Hight’s fourth-inning single was the only base hit for Hopkins Central, which finishes the year at 5-27.

The Storm’s Hight and Logan Scarbrough were recognized after the game for being named to the all-district team.
