The 2nd Region boys doubles runner-up combo of Hopkinsville’s James Folz and Spencer Powell may have had to chuckle when they saw the draw for the KHSAA State Tennis tournament, with a matchup with the top-seeded team from St. X awaiting in the first round.
Things proceeded as expected on Tuesday at the Top Seed Tennis Club, with the Tiger duo falling 0-6, 0-6 to Ty Bush and Patrick Johnson. The St. X combo would duplicate their first-round performance in the second, knocking off Bowling Green’s Andrew Law and Tucker Strow in straight sets.
