Blake Vivrette brought home the best finish for a Caldwell County track athlete at the state meet in five years Friday at the Class 2A State Meet in Lexington.
Vivrette finished third in the high jump with a height of six feet. The mark equaled his season-best and was two inches behind T.J. Miller’s school record of 6-2 set at the 2009 state meet.
Bardstown’s Avery Bell won the event at 6-feet, 4-inches.
The Caldwell County junior was also part of the 800-meter relay team that finished in eighth place and medaled.
He was hoping for a third medal on the day but was called for a false start in the 400-meter run. A single false start results in elimination from the race.
Vivrette’s third-place finish at the state meet is the best for a Caldwell athlete since Landon Holt finished second in the 400-meter run and third in the 110-meter hurdles in 2016.
