
Chase Atkins closed out his high school track and field career with a trip to the medal podium at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet Saturday at the University of Kentucky.
Atkins took third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:19.32, breaking the school record he already owned by over two seconds. It was the first state track and field medal for the Bellarmine University signee.
Atkins also finished 15th in the 3200-meter run in a time of 10:14.57. He now heads off the college the owner of eight Hopkinsville High track and field records and two cross country records.
