Lori Moyd’s first trip to the state track and field meet saw her return to Hopkinsville with a medal. The Hoptown junior finished seventh in the shot put Saturday at the Class 3A meet in Lexington.
Moyd’s distance of 35-feet, 2.25-inches beat her previous best toss by nearly two feet. In fact, her final three throws of the day all eclipsed her personal best distance set at the Apollo Invitational this year.
Moyd’s distances improved seven feet from the first two weeks of the track season to the state meet.
