Marshall County had three individuals and a relay team claim first place at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet in Lexington Saturday, helping the Marshals to a third-place team finish.
Junior Will Davis got off to a strong start and won the 400-meter run in a time of 48.11 seconds and established a new school record time.
Fellow junior Cade Flatt easily win the 800-meter run with a clocking of 1:51.89. He just missed breaking his own school record by .13 seconds.
Davis, Flatt, Isaiah Kirby, and Preston Lamb won the 1600-meter relay in 3:21.80 which broke their own school record by nearly five seconds.
Ben Fiser won the discus throw with a heave of 160-feet, 1-inch – good for a win by four feet. He just missed a school record by eight inches.
Fiser also placed fifth in the shot put at 51-feet, 1.25-inches, while teammate Chase Thompson was seventh at 48-02.25. Thompson also finished 21st in the discus throw.
Cole Mills finished 18th in the high jump at five-feet, 10-inches.
Kian Court finished 21st in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 43.95 seconds.
Marshall County finished in third place with 46 points, three points ahead of region champion Owensboro. St. Xavier scored 79 points to edge Male by three points to win its second straight championship and 12th overall.
