Kentucky scored a huge recruiting win when four-star offensive lineman Kiyaunta Goodwin of Charlestown, Ind., picked the Cats over a slew of big-time offers the 6-7, 300-pounder had. His other finalists at the time were Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Michigan State. However, guess where Goodwin visited last weekend — Michigan State.

Credit Corey Robinson of 247Sports for breaking the news that Goodwin was at Michigan State to see coach Mel Tucker and his staff. It was apparently the first visit Goodwin has made since committing to Kentucky but he did attend a camp at the University of Kentucky earlier this month and it looked like he may have also been on campus Sunday when highly-touted offensive lineman Ryan Baer of Ohio also visited.

Since it was an unofficial visit to Michigan State, Goodwin had to pay his own expenses and that would seem to indicate he might still have some interest in Michigan State or why would he take time to make a visit.

Goodwin did indicate when he made his verbal commitment that he still intended to take all five of his official visits and obviously paying to make an unofficial visit shows that while he may be verbally committed to UK, his recruitment could still be far from over for Vince Marrow and Kentucky.

Michigan State, like Kentucky, has made recruiting offensive lineman a priority and Goodwin is a rare find. He’s rated as the nation’s 53rd best prospect in the 2022 recruiting class by 247Sports and the sixth-best offensive tackle — reasons Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson won’t back off either.
