The annual KHSAA ‘Dead Period’ begins today (June 25) and will continue through July 9. The two-week period is a chance for athletes and coaches to step away from most sports and recharge their batteries ahead of the start of practice for fall sports next month.
During the Dead Period moratorium, athletes can not use any school facilities, team equipment, school transportation, or school uniforms. Coaches are not allowed to communicate with their players, to include social media, email, and phone.
Coaches cannot use non-school facilities to promote any alternative activities with athletes and no fundraisers can be held.
The same Dead Period applies to middle school athletics as well.
