Game times have now been set for one of the early season football events in the area. Officials announced Monday afternoon the times for the two games that will be played in the 2021 Jerry Claiborne Bowl at the Stadium of Champions on August 27th.
The first game of the evening, which will kickoff at 5:30pm, will have new head coach Ricky Gehres and the Christian County Colonels hosting the Logan County Cougars. Christian County, in a COVID-19 reduced season, finished 2020 with a record of 1-5. Logan County ended the 2020 season at 5-4, losing in the second round of the playoffs to Hopkinsville.
The second game will feature the Hopkinsville Tigers hosting the Mayfield Cardinals, two teams that made deep playoff runs in the 2020 season. Hopkinsville finished the year at 7-3, losing to Boyle County in the Class 4A semifinals. Mayfield ended 2020 at 7-2, falling to Murray in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
The Hopkinsville-Mayfield game is set for an 8:30pm start
