Princeton native Jake Lewis picked up a second-place finish in the Great Northwest on Saturday in action At Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Wash.
Riders faced scorching heat over the weekend, with high temperatures topping the century mark each day.
Lewis started on the pole in the 13-lap Stock 1000 race Saturday after breaking the track record in qualifying on Friday.
Racing for Altus Motorsports, Lewis led much of the race on Saturday before being passed by Corey Alexander with two laps to go. Alexander crossed the finish line a little more than one second ahead of Lewis, who finished second.
In Superbike racing on Saturday, Lewis placed ninth.
In Sunday’s action, Lewis was 14th in the Superbike race but he did not finish the Stock 1000 race.
Lewis started from the pole, but a mechanical issue took him out of the race before he completed the first lap.
