Teams from Trigg County and Dawson Springs are among those taking part this week in a national competition in South Carolina. More than 350 teams are fishing in the 12th Annual High School Fishing World Finals, on Lake Hartwell, in Anderson.
Through the first day of the competition on Wednesday, the Trigg County pairing of Hunter Shelton and Jordan Hampton was in 186th place with 4 pounds 8 ounces.
The Trigg County pairing of Thomas Hawkins and Brayden Jones was not far behind, finishing their day with a total weight of 4-03. That weight total placed them in 203rd place after the opening day.
The Dawson Springs boat of Carlton McCuiston and James Embry wrapped up the opening day with 2 pounds 5 ounces. That weight placed them 306th for the first day of fishing.
The event is set to continue through July 3rd.
