After seeing the previous head football coach step away just prior to the “dead period” without ever officially coaching a game, the Falcons have turned to a former assistant coach and long-time school staff member to take over the Falcon football program for the 2021 season. Officials announced Friday that Charles Poole would be serving as the next football coach at the school.

Poole becomes the 6th head football coach at Fort Campbell since the 2012 season.

Former coach Jeff Rodgers stepped away in mid-June without ever having coached the Falcons on a Friday night. No reason was given for Rodgers’ departure.

Most recently, Poole has been serving as the golf coach at Fort Campbell. Poole began as a substitute teacher before taking a full-time teaching position at Fort Campbell. He was an assistant football coach from 2009 until June of 2016 when he was named Athletic Director. Poole would then coach the Lady Falcons basketball team for the 2018-2019 season.

Poole graduated from Clarksville Northwest High in 1990. He served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps before eventually getting his degree in computer science in 2004 at the American InterContinental University. He began as a substitute teacher at Fort Campbell before he earned his master’s degree in education at Ashford University.

After losing their 2020 season to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Falcons are set to play their first football game in nearly two years on August 20, when they travel to Muhlenberg County.
