The Hoptown Hoppers moved back above the .500 mark with an 8-6 road win at Fulton Saturday night. Hoptown built an 8-3 lead in the contest and then held off a 7th inning rally from the Railroaders to pick up the win.
The Hoppers got big nights from Alex Gonzales and Cam Thompson. Gonzales finished the game going 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Thompson was 3-5, with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Hoptown scored a run in the first, three in the second, two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and one in the seventh.
Colby Downard went 6 2/3-innings to get the win for the Hoppers. Chase Gruno picked up the save, which was his fifth of the season. Gruno went two innings, giving up no runs, on one hit, and striking out three.
The Hoppers are back in action at home Sunday night taking on the Paducah Chiefs.
