Princeton native Emma Talley begins play in the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational on Thursday in Midland, Michigan.
This week’s event on the LPGA Tour has a different format than the typical tour event.
The tournament is a 72-hole, stroke-play team event with teams comprised of two players.
The first and third rounds will be played in foursomes (alternate shot) and the second and final rounds will be played in a fourball (best-ball) format.
After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 35 teams and ties.
Talley is teaming with Jodi Ewart Shadoff in this week’s event at Midland Country Club. They will tee off on No. 1 at 12:34 p.m. Eastern time Thursday in the first round. Talley and Ewart Shadoff will play in the same group as Jenny Coleman and Perrine Delacour in the first two rounds.
On Friday, those two teams will begin on the No. 10 tee box at 7 a.m. Eastern time.
Each LPGA Member on the winning team will receive the standard two-year winner’s exemption on the LPGA Priority List.
CME points and prize money will be official for the purposes of the current-year LPGA Official Money List and Race to the CME Globe Standings.
Rolex Player of the Year, Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year and U.S. Solheim Cup points will not be allocated, and statistics will not be calculated. Rolex Women’s World Rankings Points also will not be allocated.
This week’s purse is $2.3 million. Each member of the winning team will earn almost $280,000.
The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational was not played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
