For the third consecutive game, the Hoptown Hoppers scored double-digit runs Saturday night. However, this time it was not quite enough to come home with the win.
Following a leadoff double and error from B Falkenstein, the Owensboro Rivedawgs stole home and stole an 11-10 eleven inning home win over the Hoppers to end Hoptown’s two-game winning streak Saturday night in Owensboro. The “thievery” by Falkenstein capped off a night that saw the Riverdawgs rally late to even have a chance to get to extra innings.
The Hoppers led the game 9-4 going into the bottom of the seventh, only to see Owensboro hang six runs on the board to take a 10-9 lead. The big blow in the inning was a three-run triple off the bat of B Falkenstein. The Riverdawgs would then take the lead on a bases-loaded walk.
Hoptown rallied in the top of the 8th to tie the game, taking advantage of an Owensboro miscue to even things up at 10-10.
Kurt Paldino led the Hopper effort going 3-4 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored. Landon Choboy was 1-5 with a home run, 3 RBIs, and a run scored. Nico Montes ended up 2-3, with a home run, 3 RBIs, and a run scored. Riley Garczynski, B.J. Banyon, and Zayd Brannigan added two hits each for the Hoppers.
The Hoppers return home Sunday evening to host Madisonville.
