Lyon County Post 68 reached the championship round of the American Legion Baseball State Tournament, but fell to Owensboro Post 9 12-1 in five innings Saturday night.
Cohl Proctor pitched a one-hitter as the Owensboro Bombers captured the state title at Graves County. Jordon Tolle was 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and two runs batted in.
Michael Barrow singled for Lyon County’s only base hit.
A Post 68 win over Owensboro would have forced a deciding game on Sunday in the double-elimination tournament. Instead, the Bombers went 3-0 in the state tourney to win the championship.
The Lyon County Aces had eliminated Madisonville Post 6 earlier in the day 8-5.
Lyon took the lead in that game with a four-run third inning. That put the Aces up 6-5.
Cooper Ford was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Post 68.
Hunter Hopper was the winning pitcher, going six innings and allowing five earned runs on 10 base hits.
Parker Mathis was 3-for-4 with a double and knocked in two runs for Madisonville.
