Hoptown Golfers Open Season in 7th at Daviess County

Austin Knight’s debut as Hopkinsville golf coach saw the Tigers bring home a seventh-place finish Friday at the Daviess County Invitational at Ben Hawes State Park in Owensboro.

Will Binkley led the Hoptown golfers with a 3-over par 74 to tie for fourth place.  He shot a 37 on both sides of the par-71 course.

Andrew Riggs had Hoptown’s second-best score with an 87. He went out with a 39 and came in with a 48.

Joey Falco shot a 94 that included a 44 on the front nine, and Thomas Grise shot a 108 in his first match with Hoptown.

Madisonville’s Jackson Hill shot a 1-under 70 to take medalist honors, defeating Owensboro Catholic’s Jakob Wellman in a playoff.

Hopkinsville’s team total of 363 was good for seventh place. Paced by Grant Broughton’s third-place finish, Daviess County won the team title with 312 points.
