Collin Whittington’s 78 Leads Caldwell Golfers at Madisonville

Freshman Collin Whittington shot a personal-best 78 as Caldwell County finished 10th in a field of 17 teams at the Madisonville-North Hopkins Invitational on Saturday.

Camden McGregor also carded his lowest round with a 79 while Austin Crick shot an 87 for the Tigers.

Ryan Hammett finished at 97 while Christopher Sutton shot 113.

Caldwell had three players competing as individuals on Saturday. Cannon Littlejohn shot 109, Cole Wyatt 114 and Carter Whittington 148.

Greenwood had four players score in the 70s and won the team championship with a score of 298.

That was 11 shots better than runner-up McCracken County.

Daviess County was next at 313 while South Warren shot a 314. Madisonville-North Hopkins was fifth at 322.

Trigg County shot 327 and Owensboro Catholic 330.

Dawson Springs and Breckinridge County each tallied team scores of 340.

Caldwell shot a 341.

Daviess freshman Grant Broughton claimed medalist honors with a 2-under-par 70.

Greenwood’s Jacob Lang was runner-up after carding a 71.

Madisonville’s Jackson Hill, McCracken’s Camryn Beatty and Owensboro Catholic’s Jakob Wellman each record even-par 72s.

Caldwell’s golfers will play in the Hopkinsville Invitational on Tuesday at Hopkinsville Country Club.
