High School golf is the first sport to begin its season this week with golfers making sports news this week for their top finishes at invitational tournaments in western Kentucky.
To compete for a high school golf team, KHSAA rules say you must be in the seventh grade or higher. But the older ones aren’t the only ones making news.
10-year-old Lane Loden of Cerulean finished in third place at the Kentucky Junior PGA Tournament at Shawnee Golf Course in Louisville Tuesday. During his nine-hole round, Loden shot a 47 that included two pars.
He received a bronze PGA trophy for his day on the course, which was his first on the Junior PGA Tour.
Lane will be a fifth-grader at Crofton Elementary School when classes begin next week.
