Just when you thought the fall sports season might return to being close to normal, the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus comes blazing into the picture. The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers were among the teams most impacted by the pandemic during the 2020 season, and the start of their 2021 season has now been delayed due to the virus issues.
Officials with the Christian County Public Schools informed YourSportsEdge.Com that the Lady Tigers would be delaying the start of their season due to more than ten players being in quarantine. With the large number of players impacted, the decision was made to cancel the Lady Tigers’ first three games of the season.
Hopkinsville’s first three games were set to be at home against South Warren (August 10), Paducah Tilghman (August 12), and Fort Campbell (August 16). The Lady Tigers would now open their season August 21 at home against Warren Central.
During the 2020 season, the Lady Tigers were able to get in only seven matches on the season due to being in COVID protocols a large part of the season.
