Todd County Central has turned to an assistant on the girls’ basketball staff to be the next head coach of the Lady Rebels. School officials announced Friday afternoon that former Caldwell County standout Matt Fraliex has been named the new Lady Rebels’ Head Basketball Coach. Fraelix replaces Lee Quarles, who resigned when he assumed the role of Principal at Todd County Central High School.

Fraliex was a five-year starter for the Caldwell County Tigers from 2002-2007. He was a two-time All-State selection and scored 2,941 career points which is still the most by any player in Caldwell basketball history. Fraliex capped off his Tiger career by winning the 2007 7th District Championship and leading his team to a 23-4 record. He was a finalist for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball and was chosen to represent Kentucky in the Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star game.

Fraliex played at Murray State University for two seasons, before transferring to Mid-Continent University. After his playing career ended, Fraliex was an assistant coach for one season at Caldwell County. He later took over the Russellville Middle School boys’ program in 2019-2020. Fraliex then took the position of assistant coach for the Lady Rebels last year.

In a statement, Fraliex said “I look forward to pouring my heart and soul into each player that is a part of our program. Helping them improve as people first, students second, and athletes third.”
