Henderson Overpowers Lyons in Soccer Opener

When the 2021 soccer schedule came out, it was obvious the Lyon County Lyons would face a difficult opener to the season. That turned out to be the case as Henderson County’s Braeden Myers-Curry found the net four times as the Colonels rolled to an 11-1 win over the Lyons in Henderson.

Henderson County scored their 11 goals in just over 57 minutes as the game was stopped in the second half due to the 10 goal rule.

Ashton Todd and Myers-Curry both found the net quickly, giving the Colonels a 2-0 lead in the match just over nine minutes into the match. The duo each scored a goal over the next six minutes to give the Colonels a 4-0 lead 15 minutes in. By the half, Myers-Curry had his hat trick and the lead was up to 7-0.

A minute into the second half and Myers-Curry hit the nets for the fourth time to extend the lead to 8-0. Carter Denton would find the nets about three minutes later as the lead grew to 9-0.

Lyon County finally broke through the Henderson County defense at the 47 minute mark as Lukas Sperry found the net to cut the lead to 9-1. The goal came off an assist from Colt Bannister.

Henderson County would then close out the match with two more goals over the next ten minutes to end it at 11-1.

Lyon County drops to 0-1 to open the season. The Lyons are set to return to action Thursday when they travel to Graves County.
