A short-handed Trigg County boys’ soccer team denied Paducah Tilghman its first win in over a year in a 1-1 draw at Jetton Field on Thursday night. A first-half goal for each team was all the scoring, with both the Blue Tornado and the Wildcats moving to 0-1-1.
After a 5-0 loss to Murray High to open the season, the Wildcats found themselves trailing after a goal by Tilghman’s Miles Middleton fifteen minutes into the first half.
The Wildcats answered with a Daniel Jimenez header off a corner by Timmy Mendez for a 1-1 score at the break.
Both teams had chances in the second half with Trigg goalkeeper Joe Crawford making two of his five saves late to preserve the draw.
The Wildcats will hope to have one or more of their three missing starters back on Monday when they travel to Morton’s Gap looking to avenge last season’s region tourney loss to Hopkins County Central.
