Despite a shortage of players that led to a delayed start to the season and a preseason coaching change, the Todd County Central girls’ soccer team picked up a 1-1 draw in its opener at Warren East on Tuesday night.
First-year coach Victoria Bankston got a goal from the Lady Rebels’ Melanie Chamberlaine off an assist from Itzel Salazar, but Warren East matched them on the scoreboard with Mallory Beckham’s first goal of the year off a pass from Chloe Grayson.
Samantha Case made eight saves in goal for the Lady Rebels, with the Lady Raiders’ Jaeleigh Childers called on to make four stops.
Warren East moves to 1-2-1 and stops a two-game losing run. Todd Central will be on the road on Thursday looking for its first win of the season at Christian County.
