If the Christian County boys’ soccer team can find its offensive footing, the Colonels could be one of those teams that is no fun to play by the end of the season. The Colonels gave up no goals to Russellville Thursday night, but their offense struggled to find the net as the two teams played to a 0-0 tie at the Stadium of Champions.

The Colonels managed to get five shots on goal, but could not get any of those to find their way into the net.

At the other end, goalie Josh Settle finished the match with six saves as the Colonels turned the Panthers away at every opportunity.

Christian County coach Arne Seeger said he thought his team played pretty well overall. He pointed out the “defense was solid and really limited Russellville’s opportunities. We did a much better job passing the ball to space and making runs to the ball. We had some great scoring opportunities, but again had trouble finishing. We keep improving every game, so we are headed in the right direction.”

Through their first three matches of the season, the Christian County Colonels have given up only five goals. The difficulty has been that the Colonels have scored but one goal during that same time frame.

Christian County goes to 0-2-1 on the season. Russellville moves to 1-0-1.

The Colonels are slated to be back in action Monday when they host Trigg County at the Stadium.
