The University Heights Academy Blazers will start play Saturday morning in the bronze bracket of the 2021 Apollo Summer Slamdown. That comes after UHA dropped a pair of tough matches in pool play Friday evening.
UHA’s first match Friday evening found them matched up against Breckinridge County out of the 3rd Region. The two teams also met in the 2019 Slamdown. The Lady Tigers, who reached the 3rd Region semifinals last season got by the Lady Blazers in straight sets. UHA gave Breckinridge County a run in the opening set before falling 25-22. The Lady Tigers then completed the two-set sweep with a 25-13 win.
Breckinridge County moves on to the silver bracket as they were defeated by Allen County-Scottsville in their other pool play match.
The Lady Blazers wrapped up their night Friday taking on the Lady Patriots of Allen County-Scottsville. The Lady Patriots got past the Lady Blazers in straight sets, winning 25-15 and 25-19. Allen County-Scottsville moved on to the gold bracket with the win.
UHA will play Webster County in the opening round of the bronze bracket Saturday morning at 10:00 at Burns Middle School.
